Dr. Fan Suohai, a distinguished Professor of Mathematics, currently serves as the Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs at Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute. With an impressive career of nearly three decades, Dr. Fan specializes in applied mathematics, complex networks, and intelligent optimization. His extensive research work includes leading and contributing to over ten significant national and provincial-level projects, and he has authored over 90 scholarly articles. His independent research has earned him prestigious awards, including the Second Prize in Science and Technology Progress from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Third Prize in the Guangdong Provincial College Science and Technology Progress Awards.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Fan has overseen five projects focused on enhancing teaching quality and educational reform in Guangdong Province, earning him two provincial teaching achievement awards. His contributions to teaching and mentorship have been recognized repeatedly at Jinan University, where he has been awarded titles such as Outstanding Teacher, Model of Teacher Ethics, and Excellent Graduate Student Advisor. He is also a recipient of the President’s Award for Undergraduate Teaching (Most Dedicated to Teaching) and was honored as an Outstanding Teacher in Southern Guangdong in 2015.
