Article 1
These regulations provide an overview of how different classroom management strategies can be implemented so as to build a favorable learning environment for students, promote and maintain core socialist values, formulate appropriate mechanisms for education, and create positive teaching and studying styles.
Article 2
Classroom teaching should be both teacher-led and student-centered, and should stimulate the enthusiasm of teachers and students.
Article 3
As the models for and educators of students, teachers are responsible for the organization and implementation of classroom teaching. Students are required to accept the organization, management and guidance of teachers. Students must respect teachers, actively contribute to creative learning activities and cooperate with teachers to complete classroom tasks.
Article 4
Teachers should promote students’ ethical behavior. Teachers must comply with the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and other relevant laws and regulations. It is strictly forbidden for teachers in the classroom to speak against the Constitution and laws of the People's Republic of China or spread rumors, which could endanger the stability and development of the country, society and University.
Article 5
Teachers must attend classes at the time and place set in the timetable, must not be late or end the class early, and must not change the time or the place of class without approval. For more detailed information, please refer to Article 17 of section 5 of Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute (J-BJI) Teaching Management Regulations (revised).
Article 6
Teachers should adequately prepare lessons and be familiar with course contents. Teachers shall submit a teaching plan for each course as required and arrive in the classroom 5 minutes in advance in order to prepare for the class.
Article 7
Teachers shall use standard blackboard-writing system and their language (Mandarin or English) should be accurate and concise.
Article 8
During the prescribed teaching time, teachers should switch off their mobile phones, and should not smoke or do things unrelated to teaching in the classroom, or leave the classroom at will.
Article 9
Teachers should require students to strictly abide by classroom discipline. When students violate classroom discipline, teachers shall stop and correct their misbehaviour. For students who don’t correct their misbehaviour after informed, teachers have the right to order them to leave the classroom, and should report to the General Affairs Office of J-BJI after the class.
Article 10
Students must enter the classroom before the bell ring and are not allowed to be late for class, leave early, or be absent from the class. If students are unable to attend classes due to illness or emergency, they should apply for leave according to relevant regulations of J-BJI in advance. Students who are absent without leave approval will be regarded as absenteeism.
Article 11
Students should dress appropriately for class. Students who wear slippers, vests or other improper clothing are not allowed to enter the classroom. Food and drinks other than water or tea should not be brought into the classroom.
Article 12
During the class, students should abide by classroom regulations, switch off their mobile phones and entertainment gadgets, and be quiet in the classroom. Students should not sleep, eat or do other things unrelated to the course. Students also should not enter or leave the classroom without permission from the teacher.
Article 13
Students should respect teachers, follow their instructions, actively participate in learning activities, and conscientiously complete tasks assigned by teachers.
Article 14
If students have suggestions about teacher’s teaching, they can communicate directly with the teachers after class, or give their suggestions to Staff Student Committee. Any form of personal attack or language insult to teachers is forbidden.
Article 15
Students should not move or damage items within the teaching buildings or classrooms, and should care for the facilities available. Drawing pictures or pasting posters on desks, chairs, walls, etc is prohibited.
Article 16
The members of J-BJI Supervision Group of Classroom Teaching will attend each course six times per semester and write an observation report. If there are serious complaints from students about a course or about a teacher, the Supervision Group will conduct an investigation and produce a report dealing with any issues.
Article 17
The Supervision Group will promptly tackle any teacher-related problems. Once a problem has been identified as serious, the group will immediately report to the teaching management department, and will not under any circumstances ignore or conceal any incidents that have taken place.
Article 18
If teachers violate the classroom teaching regulations in a serious manner, the Supervision Group will deal with any incident arising according to relevant regulations.
Article 19
If students violate classroom regulations in a serious manner, the Supervision Group will deal with the situation according to relevant regulations; if students’ misbehavior is not so serious, J-BJI should teach the students not to repeat their misconduct.

The right to interpret these regulations belongs to Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute.
